Mr. Luis Miranda

President and CEO - IDFC Private Equity

Mr. Luis MirandaLuis Miranda is the President & Chief Executive Officer of IDFC Private Equity. Mr. Miranda has extensive experience in dealing with early stage companies and private equity investing. In 2002 he set up IDFC Private Equity which manages two funds focused on infrastructure in India with commitments of USD 630 million.

He was earlier a Partner at ChrysCapital. Prior to that, he spent 11 years in sales and trading and was a key member of the start-up team at HDFC Bank, India’s leading private sector bank. He has also worked at HSBC Markets, Citibank, KPMG and PriceWaterhouse. Mr. Miranda is currently a Director of the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association (EMPEA) and is on the Board of Governors of the Centre for Fuel Studies and Research.

He chairs the Asia Cabinet of the Global Advisory Board of the Graduate School of Business, University of Chicago. Mr. Miranda received an MBA from the University of Chicago and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Mr. Jim Conybeare-Cross

JimCCJim Conybeare-Cross joined City & Guilds at the beginning of August 2011 as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) responsible for finance, legal, operations, facilities and real estate, bringing his extensive experience to help the Group build its e-learning capabilities and transform into a vocational education business.
Jim joins City & Guilds from Pearson where he was interim CFO Asia Pacifc for the Education business. Prior to Pearson Jim worked at Reed Elsevier, initially based in Singapore as CFO for Asia Pacific at LexisNexis, the legal information business. Jim returned to London to join Elsevier Health Sciences where he was CFO of Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America. During this time Jim was tasked with overseeing the acceleration of print to online, leading back office synergies and cost savings across Europe, and driving development in emerging markets.

Previously, Jim worked at Jones Lang LaSalle (property services) in Hong Kong and Singapore, D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles (advertising) in London and Hong Kong, and Elf Oil in London after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant.

 

Mr. Michael Dawe

Mr. Michael DaweMichael Dawe currently heads City & Guilds’ non-domestic business which covers 22 focus countries through 9 branch offices.  City & Guilds is a UK based skills development company which registers 2 million new learners yearly through a network of 6 thousand licensed training providers. 

In the past year Michael has driven City & Guilds investment into high potential markets, most notably the joint venture with Manipal in India which was launched in September 2009 under the name of IndiaSkills.

Prior to working with City & Guilds International business, Michael headed up a research and development group in City & Guilds called the Centre for Skills Development (CSD) which undertakes projects to influence and improve skills policy and practice in focus countries.  Before working with the CSD, Michael headed a team that introduced technological solutions into vocational education including e-learning and e-assessment solutions.  He led the implementation of City & Guilds’ on-screen assessment solution which was the first of its kind to be introduced in the UK’s further education sector, and now handles over a million tests on-screen every year.

Mr. Shriniwas Joshi

Mr. Shriniwas JoshiPrior to Joining Manipal, Shriniwas was working with Bharat Shell Ltd, Mumbai as Vice President-Finance, IT & Company Secretary, as well as the officiating head of business. He has worked in various companies like Boots India, Cadbury India (which included a 15 month stint in London) and Tata BP Lubricants.
